The Points System

We've implemented a new points system to the game prediction system. While this point system will only be used to break ties in winning percentage, it can be useful.

The point system is very simple. Each team is assigned a point value, depending on their match-up for the week. Depending on the match-up, each team is assigned either a 1-point value, or a 2-point value. Each team by default is given a 1-point value, however, if they are the underdog in a matchup, by 4 or more losses (record wise), then they will be worth a 2-point value for that week.

We'll use Week 12 for example:

In the match-up between the Packers and the Saints, both teams entered the game with a 5-5 record. Due to this, both teams were given a 1-point value. Therefore, if you picked the winning team, you would get 1-point.

However, in the match-up between the Raiders and the Broncos, the Broncos entered the game with a 6-4 record, while the Raiders entered the game with a 2-8 record. Due to the win seperation of 4 games, (6 wins to 2 wins), the Broncos were assigned a 1-point value, while the Raiders were assigned a 2-point value, due to being an underdog. Anyone who picked the Raiders to win, would have received 2-points, since they won the game. If the Broncos would have won, anyone who picked them would have received 1-point.

While it will be rare win "underdog" points, they are available every week, and rewards those who go out on the limb to pick teams who can end up pulling it out.
